    简介:Theeffectsofintermittentcloudandchangesintemperaturecausearandomlyfluctuatedoutputofaphotovoltaic(PV)system.TomitigatethePVsystemimpactsparticularlyonaweakelectricitynetwork,batteryenergystorage(BES)systemisaneffectivemeanstosmoothoutthepowerfluctuations.Consequently,thenetpowerinjectedtotheelectricitygridbyPVandBES(PV/BES)systemscanbedispatchedsmoothlysuchasonanhourlybasis.Thispaperpresentsanimprovedcontrolstrategyforagrid-connectedhybridPV/BESsystemsformitigatingPVfarmoutputpowerfluctuations.AfeedbackcontrollerforBESstateofchargeisproposed,wherethecontrolparametersareoptimizedusinggeneticalgorithm(GA).GA-basedmultiobjectiveoptimizationutilizesthedailyaveragePVfarmoutputpowerprofilewhichwasobtainedfromsimulationusingthehistoricalPVsysteminputdataofMalaysia.Inthisway,theoptimalsizefortheBESisalsodeterminedtohourlydispatcha1.2 MWPVfarm.AcasestudyforMalaysiaiscarriedouttoevaluatetheeffectivenessoftheproposedcontrolschemeusingPSCAD/EMTDCsoftwarepackage.Furthermore,thevalidationofresultsoftheproposedcontrollerandBESsizeontheactualPVsystemoutputdataarealsogiven.Finally,asimplepaybackcalculationispresentedtostudytheeconomicalaspectsoftheBESinvestmentontheproposedmitigationstrategyunderMalaysianFeed-inTariffprogram.
