简介:Theexperimentalevidencesuggeststhatthelithiumionstendtoaggregateonthenear-surfaceofnanoscaleelectrodeparticlesinlithium-ionbatteries.However,theunderlyingmechanismhasnotbeenwellunderstood.Inthiswork,basedontheestablishedchemo-mechanicalcoupledmodelfeaturingsurfacestress,stress-dependentchemicalpotential,andstress-mediateddiffusivity,thesize-dependenceofdiffusionkineticsinnanosphereelectrodesisinvestigated.Theresultsshowthatadditionalcompressivestressescausedbythesurfacestressretardtheattainablelithiationduetothereducedsurfacestress-dependentdiffusivity,andthehighlithiationregionhasagrowingtendencytomoveonthenear-surfaceregionwithdecreasingthedimensionsofnanospheres.Theworkindicatesthattheeffectsofsurfacestressonlithium-iondiffusionkineticsmayresultinthecapacitor-likebehaviorofbatterymaterialsconsistingofelectrodenanoparticles."
