简介:Rechargeablemagnesiumbatteries(RMBs)havebeenregardedasoneofthepromisingelectrochemicalenergystoragesystemstocomplementLi‐ionbatteriesowingtothelow‐costandhighsafetycharacteristics.However,thevariouschallengesincludingthesluggishsolid‐statediffusionofhighlypolarizingMg2+ionsinhosts,andtheformationofblockinglayersonMgmetalsurfacehaveseriouslyimpededthedevelopmentofhigh‐performanceRMBs.InordertosolvetheseproblemstowardpracticalapplicationsofRMBs,atremendousamountofworkonelectrodesandelectrolyteshasbeenconductedinthelastfewdecades.CreativeoptimizationstrategiesincludingthemodificationofcathodesandanodessuchasshieldingthechargesofdivalentMg2+,expandingthelayersofhostmaterials,andoptimizingtheinterfaceofelectrode–electrolyteareraisedtopromotethetechnology.Inthisreview,thedetaileddescriptionofinnovativeapproaches,representativeexamples,andfacingchallengesfordevelopinghigh‐performanceelectrodesarepresented.Basedonthereviewofthesestrategies,guidelinesareprovidedforfutureresearchdirectionsonimprovingtheoverallbatteryperformance,especiallyontheelectrodes.
